The Story of the Sandman

Long ago, before people built houses and clocks began to tell time, there existed a silent world between waking and sleeping. In that world lived a small being, born of moonlight and desert sand: the Sandman.

When the first human closed his eyes and dreamed, a silver tear fell from the moon. That tear touched the sand of the earth and became alive. Thus was born the Sandman—small, with eyes that sparkled like stars and hands filled with soft, glittering dream sand.

The Moon gave him a task:

"Bring peace to the minds of men, and let their dreams grow like stars in the night."

For centuries, the Sandman traveled the world.
He walked through Egyptian deserts, where he made pharaohs dream of pyramids and eternity.
He wandered through medieval castles, where he made knights dream of honor and dragons. And in quiet farmhouses, he made children dream of flying horses and hidden treasures.

He carried a small bag of sand that never ran dry. Each grain was a dream, each dream a tiny universe.

But then came the time of noise and light.
Cities grew bigger, nights brighter, and people slept less.
They stopped believing in magic, and some children thought dreams were just movies in their minds.

The Sandman grew older and a little sad.
His bag grew lighter, not because it emptied, but because fewer people actually dreamed.

Yet he's still there.
Every night, just when your eyes get heavy, he sits on the edge of your bed. He gently blows sand into your eyes—that's why they sometimes sting when you're sleepy.

He listens to your thoughts and carefully chooses your dreams:

To those who are afraid, he sends courage.

To those who are sad, he sends light.

For those who dare to dream big, he sends entire worlds.

It is said that if all people dream deeply together one night, the Sandman will grow into a giant of stardust and open a new dream world where people can visit their dreams while awake.

Until that day, he remains small, silent, and invisible—but always close by.
