The Great Adventure of Happiness, Balance and… Waiting for a New Car

Once upon a time, a couple began a special chapter in their lives six months ago: retirement. Some call it "stopping work," but they soon discovered it actually meant finally having time to live. 😊

The first few weeks were a bit strange. The alarm clock glared at them reproachfully from the bedroom every morning.

"Shouldn't we get up?" the alarm clock whispered.

"Why?" he asked.

"I have no idea," she said. "But let's have coffee first and think about it."

And so began their new daily ritual:
coffee, talking, laughing, and making plans… or not making plans at all.

The discovery of balance
After years of schedules, work hours, and obligations, they discovered something remarkable:
balance isn't found in perfect planning, but in small moments.

Balance lies in:

- having breakfast together without rushing

- taking a walk while the world is still waking up

- laughing at nothing

- making plans for tomorrow… and maybe changing them again

Sometimes they wondered how they had ever been short of time.

"Work must be a kind of time magnet," he once said.
"It sucks up all the hours of the day."

The next big project: waiting
And then a new adventure arrived: waiting for their new car.

Not just any car. No.
A car that symbolized freedom, excursions, and spontaneous ideas.

Every day, roughly the same conversation happened.

"Do you think it will be here today?"
"Probably not."
"Maybe tomorrow?"
"That sounds more realistic."

But secretly, they actually quite enjoyed the waiting.

Because waiting also means dreaming.

They dreamed of:

- short road trips

- coffee stops in unknown villages

- sea, forest, and mountains

- and maybe a lost picnic along the way

The Secret of Happiness
On a quiet afternoon, with the sun streaming through the window, she suddenly said:

"Do you know what happiness actually is?"

He thought for a moment.

"A new car?" he said cautiously.

She laughed.

"Not quite."

She looked around: the house, the peace, the coffee, the moment.

"Happiness is not having to be anywhere… but being able to go anywhere."

He nodded.

"And balance," he said, "is having another coffee before we leave."

And so they continued to live in their new rhythm:

not too fast, not too slow… just right.

The car would arrive.

But in the meantime, they discovered something more important:

The best adventure isn't the destination, but the time you spend together.
