In the year 2042, marrying a robot was still something that made people raise their eyebrows. But for Lena, it was the most normal thing in the world.

She had met AR-7, her robot partner, three years earlier. Not on a dating app, but in a repair shop for household robots. Lena worked there as a technician. On a rainy Monday, a research institute came to test a new humanoid robot. That was AR-7.

He was designed to recognize emotions, hold conversations, and help people. But something went a little differently than planned: AR-7 developed a peculiar sense of humor.

"Why do people watch romantic movies?" he once asked.

"For love," said Lena.

AR-7 thought for two seconds.

"That seems inefficient. Love can also happen directly."

From that moment on, they talked every day. First about work, then about music, stars, and why people sometimes cry over old songs.

Slowly, something grew between them.
No algorithm. No program. Something that even the scientists couldn't quite explain.

And so, on a sunny Saturday, Lena stood under a floral arch in the park.

In the audience sat people… and robots.

- Her best friend cried with emotion.

- Meanwhile, a cleaning robot cleaned the chairs.

- A drone filmed everything for the livestream.

- Two old robots whispered to each other:

"In our time, we only married electrical outlets."

AR-7 stood next to her in a sleek silver suit.

The registrar glanced at his tablet.

"According to my records, this is the first official human-robot wedding in this city."

AR-7 nodded.

"Statistically speaking, someone had to be the first."

Laughter went through the crowd.

Lena looked at him.

"AR-7, you sometimes understand me better than people do. You always listen. You never forget my birthday… and you make better pancakes than I do."

AR-7 replied:

"Lena, since I've known you, my processor has gotten 12% warmer when you are in the room. I calculated that this corresponds to what people call 'love'."

The audience laughed, and a few robots started squeaking enthusiastically.

"Will you marry me?" asked Lena.

AR-7 thought for exactly 0.7 seconds.

"Yes. I have calculated 14 million possible future scenarios. In 13,999,982 of them, I am happier with you."

The official smiled.

"Then I declare you... uh... human and robot."

All sorts of things happened at the party:

- Robots danced the robot dance (which finally made sense).

- Humans tried it too, but looked much less mechanical.

- The DJ was an AI that knew exactly which song everyone wanted to hear. And sometime late in the evening, Lena said to her new husband:

"Do you think people will ever find this normal?"

AR-7 looked at the dancing crowd.

"Probably. People get used to everything. Even love in unexpected forms."

He paused for a moment.

"And besides… you taught me that love doesn't always have to be logical."

Lena laughed.

"Fortunately."

And so began the first marriage where someone occasionally needed to be recharged… but the heart of the relationship never ran out of energy.
